Cherokee Holiday and Holiday Veterans run

We went to Tahlequah, Ok for the 61st Cherokee Holiday and my first 5K since having baby Lady. It was Andy and Lady's first powwow and we even got a chance to meet Chief Bill J. Baker that night. Lady didn't seem to mind the loud drumming at all and I loved seeing my heritage and getting to share it with her.

Here is us at the Holiday Veterans run the next morning. I was so nervous with it being my first postpartum race but I ended up actually doing really well, I ran the whole thing without stopping. It felt so good to finally get back out there in the racing world.

Color run Austin,Tx

I ran the Color run in Austin, Tx in February and of course I'm just now getting around to posting about it.

The start of the race was delayed about thirty minutes because it had rained and they weren't able to drive the paint to the locations, they had to carry them all there.

I met up with a group of girls that I had met through the hotel I stayed at, they were so much fun!

My bestie, Lauren, came to see me! :D

My mom and I in before and after.

Being a crazy person after the race!

Overall it was such a fun race and so glad I went down to Austin to run it.

Feet on fire run

Forgot to update that two weeks ago I ran the Feet on fire 5K by the Gatesway foundation at Will Rogers downs. The course was on the race track where the horses race then we went on the road for 2K and came back and finished on the track. The track felt more like the beach, I had expected it to be harder, it was actually difficult to run on. I loved this run, this old lady actually inspired me. She kept cheering everyone on and ran faster than I could, she looked like she was in her 70's. I hope to be like that one day :) At the same time the runners went off they had a balloon competition where the balloons had to get bean bags into certain huge X's. That was pretty cool to watch afterward.

Little Rock marathon

I ran the Little Rock marathon on March 6th, 2011 which also happened to be my birthday and it was my first marathon.  I absolutely loved it! The hills and medal all lived up to the hype. Everyone there was so kind and encouraging. I did the early start just in case to give me security on my first marathon and I am so glad I did.

Andy and I went to a museum with his parents next to our hotel.

Just hanging out with Bill Clinton and a Greek goddess.

At the expo the day before the marathon.

I did it!!

My birthday party with my family at our hotel!

My first marathon!!!

Some exciting news!!
Officially signed up for my very first marathon, it is on my birthday March 6th this year! I am running the Little Rock marathon and am beyond excited!!

They are known for having a HUGE finishers medal. I saw it at the fitness expo when I ran the route 66 half marathon and it was ginormous! I am super nervous when I stop and think about actually running 26.2 miles at one time but that is what I thought about 13.1 and it was wonderful. Wish me luck!

Route 66 Quarter Marathon

The quarter marathon is the longest distance I've done so far! So hard but so fun!

Check it out, I'm featured on the Williams Route 66 Marathon website!!

The guy in the white has the starting gun and is officially bad ass.

Me afterward, I forgot my medal and Andy had to yell at me to go back! Also a completely embarrassing  photo of me.

        In line for beer, seriously.

My sister Sarah and her boyfriend Dave drinking the beer I got. Runners got two free beers.

         I did it! :D

In case you missed the first one, I'm featured on the Williams Route 66 Marathon website!!

My first running medal!!

I have officially won my first running medal!!! I ran the Glen's run, an 8K. I wasn't even sure I could finish the race because I didn't get in much training during the week because I had been working 10 or more hours per day. I had only ever ran a 5K. While there I met one of my friends from Dailymile.com, Robin R. She was so awesome and encouraging with each kilometer we reached. She was with me up until the 5th kilometer then she decided to walk it. My goal was to finish within an hour and I completed it in 59 minutes. My mom, my sister Sarah, and husband Andy were there to cheer me on. We were about to leave and they started to announce winners and literally just after I said "Lets just go home I didn't win anything anyway." they called my name "Casey Huggins!!!". I screamed and ran up there to get my medal. I won first in my age group 20-24 and I also won third in my weight class. The feeling I had finishing the race without stopping was amazing but getting a medal when I didn't expect it was incredible, I literally had a "runners high" all day.

Thats me with the blue shorts in the back. You can see me if you squint your eyes just right.

Apparently this is what went on when I was running.

Embarrassing picture of my sister, Sarah.

My mom, the professional texter. It was her birthday that day and she woke up at six in the morning to come see me :) .

This is me mid run!

Leif came too, he had pollen all on his eyebrows.

Crossing the finish line!

Robin and I after the run!

I won a medal!!

Its legit!
